There´s something really magical about looking back at who you once were, naturally avoiding the teen years -I grew up in the early nineties - so it was all about Pompadour hair alternating with the "Donna Martin" look on weekends... And don´t even get me started on the clothes, with the high waisted jeans that practically went up to your neck and the multi colored Reebok booties, remember those? I had them in pink, yellow, white and whatever else was available!
But back to our main subject, the younger you.. Im amazed to the things I find in old photos and how I relate to them in the present, you can find little clues about yourself and discover how you're still that same person that you see in those ancient photographs. I mean I always knew I liked books, I was exposed to them from a very young age and of course Id always want the ones at the top shelf (fortunately Ive never been too accident prone!). I have memories of going with mom to big bookstores and how Id sit in the children's´section for hours and hours and would always take something home. One particular very fond memory I have is The Berenstain Bears... Now there´s even a website, no such thing back then... But I did collect them (Don´t talk to strangers, And too much junk food) and learned a lot from them as well...
We also had our regular visits to the public library, where they asked you for that -what-was-it-called- library card! And I enjoyed reading to myself, what do you expect? Im an only child, so my stuffed animals had to hear it too! There´s images of Alice in Wonderland, Little Women, The Hobbit, Tom Sawyer (I was gaga for Mark Twain, promise to elaborate) ... I was a bookworm and have always treasured the idea of telling stories... In fact I still want to be Meg Ryan and have an amazing little bookshop "just around the corner"...
